WHY CONTRIBUTE TO THE J.E.B. STUART EDUCATION FOUNDATION?

The J.E.B. Stuart Educational Foundation, Inc. was formed in 2005 to provide post secondary financial assistance to students within the Stuart High School community. The need is great.

• Stuart High School is #1 in Fairfax County in all three risk factors that predict low student achievement-poverty, mobility, and a primary language other than English.
• Two-thirds of the students are second language learners speaking 40 different languages
• 54% of students are qualified for free or reduced rate lunch.
• Stuart High School is consistently recognized as one of the most successful in the country, in spite of these challenges, with a high graduation rate and a percentage of students continuing on to post-secondary education.

The Foundation intends to support many of these students who wish to continue their education but are unable to do so without financial help. In 2006, the Foundation awarded $54,000 to 34 graduating students. Our goal for 2007 is to award at least $100,000 each year to graduating seniors.

With your support, we can reach this goal and enable these academically qualified students to pursue their higher education dreams next year!

A selection committee comprised of members of the community, Foundation Directors, guidance counselors and PTSA representatives will determine the recipients on the basis of work ethic, performance, motivation, and financial need. Applications will be considered from students interested in vocational education as well as two and four year colleges.

Your name, or a memorial you may designate, will appear in our publications, as well as on our website, unless you request otherwise. Many deserving Stuart seniors are in need of financial support to continue their education. Please contribute to this worthwhile effort.
